Membership Information

CALLING ALL UM GRADUATES – The membership entrance fee to join PAUM as an Ordinary and Associate Member is only RM1,000.00 (not subject to SST).

Graduates of other universities or persons with recognised academic or professional qualifications are eligible to sign up as Associate Members at RM1,000.00.

Subscription Fee & Refundable Deposit

The membership monthly subscription fee of RM60.00 is now subject to 6% SST with effect from 1 September 2018. RM500 is the fees for Refundable Deposit

Documents to Accompany Application Forms
To expedite processing, please complete the form in full and attach the following:
(a) A cheque payable to PERSATUAN ALUMNI UNIVERSITI MALAYA for RM1563.60 (RM1,000.00 for the promotional entrance fee, RM60.00 for the first monthly subscription and RM500.00 as refundable deposit)
OR GIRO the sum directly into PAUM Maybank account no. 5141-5032-9835 with notification of payment to ellen.loh@UMAlumni.my
(b) Two (2) passport size photographs of applicant, spouse & children 12 – 18 years for issuance of membership cards with door access. Please note that RM50.00 is chargeable for replacement of lost cards.
(c) Photocopy of degree.

Membership Cards

  • We would advise that the microchip-based membership cards with photographs and facilities access features will be issued to members, with supplementary cards for their spouse and children (12 – 18 years) where applicable. PLEASE NOTE that the membership cards are not transferable and ONLY to be used by the cardholders concerned.

     Children below the ages of 12 must always be accompanied by an adult or their siblings aged 12 – 18 for the usage of the facilities.

     Please note that members who are in default will not be able to have access to the use of facilities with their membership cards.

     A fee of RM50.00 is chargeable for replacement of lost cards.

Types of Membership

Ordinary Membership
All persons who are on the Register of Graduates of the University, shall be eligible for ordinary membership.
Associate Membership
Associate membership may be open to: –

  1. Graduates of other universities in Malaysia as well as other universities.
  2. Persons who in the opinion of the Committee have recognised academic or professional qualifications which render them suitable to be associate members.
  3. Persons who in the opinion of the Committee would contribute to and further the objectives of the ALUMNI and have accordingly applied for or been invited by the Committee to become associate members.
  4. All persons who are conferred with non-degree courses including diplomas and certificates, from the University of Malaya.
Term Membership
  • Persons who would qualify for admission as Ordinary or Associate Members under Article 6 (a) (ii) and (iii) may be eligible for Term Membership provided that at the time of application, they are not Malaysian citizens or permanent residents. Term Membership shall be available and renewable on a year-to-year basis upon payment of an annual fee as may be determined by the Committee from time to time, up to a maximum of 3 years.
  • Term Members may upon expiry of the 3-year period or any time within the 3- year period opt to convert to Ordinary or Associate Membership pursuant to Articles 8 or 9 respectively by paying:
    • the difference between the amount paid in Term Membership fees and the rate of entrance fees for being an Ordinary or Associate Member at the time of conversion; and
    • a one-time conversion fee in such amount as may be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  • Term Members shall maintain a credit deposit and pay subscription at such rates as shall be determined by the Committee from time to time.
Outstation Membership
  1. Persons who qualify for admission as Ordinary Members under Article 6 (a) (ii),shall be eligible for Outstation Membership on a reduced entrance fee as may be determined by the Committee from time to time, provided that at the time of application they are ordinarily resident outside the Klang Valley and such other territories as may be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  2. Outstation Members may be required to pay subscription at such rates as shall be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  3. Outstation Members visiting Kuala Lumpur shall be eligible to use the facilities of the ALUMNI upon payment of the prevailing monthly
    subscription during the duration of their visit or a per usage charge at such rates to be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  4. Outstation Members who re-locate to the Klang Valley and such other Territories as may be determined by the Committee for a continuous period exceeding one year shall be required to convert to Ordinary Membership on such terms as the Committee shall determine from time to time by paying:
    1. the difference between the amount paid in Term Membership fees and the rate of entrance fees for being an Ordinary or Associate Member at the time of conversion; and
    2. a one-time conversion fee in such amount as may be determined by the Committee from time to time.
Overseas Membership
  1. Persons who qualify for admission as Ordinary Members under Article 6 (a) (ii), shall be eligible for Overseas Membership on a reduced entrance fee as may be determined by the Committee from time to time, provided that at the time of application they are ordinarily resident outside Malaysia.
  2. Overseas Members may be required to pay subscription at such rates as shall be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  3. Overseas Members visiting Kuala Lumpur shall be eligible to use the facilities of the ALUMNI upon payment of the prevailing monthly subscription for the duration of their visit or a per usage charge at such rates to be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  4. Overseas Members who return to Malaysia for employment or residence for a continuous period exceeding one year shall be required to convert to another appropriate category of membership on such terms as the Committee may determine from time to time by paying:
    1. the difference between the amount paid in Term Membership fees and the rate of entrance fees for being an Ordinary or Associate Member at the time of conversion; and
    2. a one-time conversion fee in such amount as may be determined by the Committee from time to time.
Corporate Membership
  1. Corporate Membership shall be open to any corporation or business entity registered or carrying on business in Malaysia.
  2. Each Corporate Member shall nominate a number of persons employed by such Corporate Member, as may be determined by the Committee from time to time, as Corporate Nominees.
  3. A Corporate Member may by notice in writing, terminate the nomination of any Corporate Nominee, and pay a fresh nomination fee of such amount as shall be determined by the Committee from time to time to nominate another qualified person in the employment of the Corporate Member as replacement Corporate Nominee.
  4. All Corporate Nominees must qualify to be an Ordinary Member as set out in Article 6 (a) (ii) and Article 8 shall be subject to acceptance by the Committee in the manner set out in Article 12.
  5. A Corporate Member may transfer its membership to another corporation or entity as defined in Article 9D (a) SUBJECT to Article 9D (d) and the approval of the Committee and upon payment of a transfer fee in such amount as may be determined by the Committee from time to time.
  6. Each Corporate member shall be responsible for the behaviour and conduct of its Corporate Nominees and shall be liable for the payment of entrance fees, subscriptions, deposits, nomination fees, transfer fees and all other moneys due and payable on account of its Corporate Nominees and in respect of its Corporate Membership.
  7. Each and every Corporate Nominee shall be jointly and severally liable with the Corporate Member for all moneys payable for expenses incurred by such Corporate Nominees at the premises of the ALUMNI or in respect of any expense incurred on account of such Corporate Nominees pursuant to its Corporate Membership.
